Goldwater
: Mr.Conservative

A Play
By

   Ben Tyler

He was a statesman, aviator, photographer, philosopher, the founding father of conservative politics in the modern era, a great Arizonan, he was in every sense a renaissance man. Barry Goldwater lost the 1964 presidential election to Lyndon Johnson in one of the worst landslides in U.S. political history, becoming the most famous man to never become president of the United States of America. Often quoted today by politicians who have little or no understanding of what it means to be a "Goldwater Conservative", he shaped the political landscape in ways that are visible to this day.

This solo show, written by Ben Tyler, directed by David Barker and  performed by actor Kim Bennett does more than examine the life of a remarkable American. Mr. Conservative puts forth the proposition that when opposing political ideologies are followed to their natural outer limits, there exists a place where they find a common ground.
